Brief Description of the Project:
The objective of the project was to support vulnerable populations, including Dalits, Janajatis, marginalized communities, and women, by ensuring equitable distribution of benefits from sustainable forest management. The project also aimed to mainstream these groups by fostering their active participation, enhancing their access to local resources and services, and amplifying their voices through effective social mobilization. |
Major outcomes achieved/ Implementation Success:
- A total of 4,136 members from 236 community forest user groups participated in forest management, nursery cultivation, and income-generating activities.
- The project provided training in group management, institutional development, income generation, good governance practices, and the preparation of group statutory provisions.
- The project supported the conservation of 3,500 hectares of forest land, provided training in forest nursery management, and facilitated income-generating activities by offering small grants to 184 community forest groups to start small-scale industries.
- A total of 36 field-based forest management training sessions were conducted. Additionally, 21 CFUG nurseries were established, producing and planting 205,784 seedlings, generating a total revenue of NPR 70,000.
- 151 CFUGs participated in the local-level planning process and developed their action plans.
- As part of income generation efforts, 82 households received training in beekeeping, along with beehives, 292 members received group management training, and 95 members were trained in citrus cultivation.
